Apollo Group/University of Phoenix employee volunteers worked side-by-side with Logan Square Boys & Girls Club staff during the summer to improve and revitalize the Club. The projects, which brightened and got the Club ready for a new school year, included painting the entire gamesroom, cleaning and organizing the library, computer lab, cadet room and other areas of the Club and repainting the playground sculpture. The new look inside and outside the Club attracted the attention of the community and gave members the joy of knowing that these volunteers took the time and made a difference in their Club and their lives.
"Apollo Group/University of Phoenix has been an outstanding partner for Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago in terms of embracing our mission and helping our young people reach their potential," said BGCC President and CEO James G. Keane. "Seeing the University's volunteers giving their time, hard work and sweat in one of our oldest Clubs showed just how committed they truly are as partners."
The volunteer effort to improve the Logan Square Club was part of the Apollo Group/University of Phoenix Adopt-A-Club Annual Corporate Partnership Opportunities program with Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago to help support the organization's mission. The partnership generously provides volunteer service, leadership, in-kind donations and a philanthropic investment in BGCC that benefits our entire organization, our Logan Square Club and the entire community.
Thank you, Apollo Group/University of Phoenix and BGCC Corporate Board member Allyson Pooley!
